look at what i got! such gorgeous aqua compacts! aren’t they so pretty?! they’re mirrored like all of their colored compacts, but i’ve never seen this color used in any makeup brand’s products before! let’s hand it to Bare Escentuals for stepping up their game with the pretty packaging! during my brief shopping spree today, i picked up both of the new READY eyeshadow 4.0 (quads) ($30) from the new Spring 2013 bareMinerals REMIX edition!
i only picked up the quads because i already owned The Natural High READY blush ($22) from the first installment of the Return to Radiance TSV from QVC (last Spring 2012) and i have several pots of Secret Radiance from various kits & collections. i also skipped the Flawless Definition mascara in Aqua Blast ($18) and the Loud & Clear Lip Sheers ($15) because i really wanted them to be more pigmented. when i swatched them on the back of my hand in ULTA, there was little to no color pay off. while some of you prefer them to be sheer (they are called lip sheers, after all), as i am going through my makeup collection, i am finding that i really like more pigmented lip products rather than sheer (especially when these lip sheers cost $15 each).
here are the quads untouched. i wanted to make sure, as a newbie beauty blogger, that i take pictures of my new products without finger smudges or nail gouges in them. the colors in The Wild Thing quad are definitely out of my comfort zone. i’m not sure what kind of look i’m going to do with them just yet. Sensational is described as “iridescent aqua,” Elitist is “bronzed taupe” (which is different than the Elitist that comes with The Star Treatment palette as it’s described as “glistening olive” and they do look slightly different when i swatched them side-by-side), Icon is “electric chartreuse,” and Controversy is “deep marine blue.” it will look so pretty as a liner.
The Next Big Thing quad is definitely more up my alley. i can see myself wearing this quad a lot more than The Wild Thing when it starts to get warmer. Rising Star is described as “sunlit gold,” Hoopla is “glowing copper,” Smash Hit is “vibrant peach,” and Ensemble is a matte “smoked-out plum.” Ensemble is also in The September Issue palette (which was exclusive to Sephora back in September 2012 and then it showed up on the Bare Escentuals site during the holidays).
i was planning on doing a look using items from The Royal Treatment for Monday’s video, but i think i’m going to do one from one of these quads instead. i’m really excited to play with them! chartreuse eyes or coral eyes?
as always, the READY eyeshadows are buttery smooth and blend easily with no effort. i still love bareMinerals’ iconic loose mineral eyeshadows, but the READY line, since its debut, is quickly becoming my go-to when i plan out a bareMinerals look for my videos. they’re just easier to use, less messy on my makeup table, and the colors just go so well with each other. i’m only missing a couple of the original quads, but just so you know, i will not purchase any of the quads that contain at least 2 or more colors from other palettes. they released about 2 quads that contained colors from the gold 8.0 palettes that came out during the holidays in 2011 and i don’t have those in my collection. i just wanted to disclose that in case you were looking for The A List or The Soundtrack quads.
listed below are the items in the REMIX edition…
